Ebb and Flow of Life.

Yesterday, I kept pondering the quote, "Whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should".  It helped, I also unglued myself from the news and spent some time with my son, potting up some new plants we recently purchased.  I bought my first Meyer Lemon tree and have had it in my home for the past few days, the fragrance from the blossoms is magnificent.  I cooked chicken and broccoli, a recipe I found over at Annie's Eats and it was delish.  So what I am trying to say is, "Keep calm and carry on".  I made a donation, said many prayers, added a link on my blog for Japan.  Now, I just need to be the best me I can be and do what I do, because that is what makes the world go round.  I spent some time (5 to 10 minuets) at the home of Sting and his wife, Trudie while I was pondering the Universe.  A beautiful Tuscan farm near Florence, that over looks the Valdarno Superiore valley.  Breath taking.  Enjoy, Heidi

Wisteria vining up the arbors, star jasmine growing on the walls and agapanthus blooming all around, these plants are easy and beautiful.
Italian cypress tress, box woods and lavender were everywhere. (easy plants for Texas as well)

List of things to do: Learn to play chess.
Check out the old olive trees in the back.  Olive trees grow very well in Texas too
and..... several hundreds perhaps thousands have been planted on the farms around Burton. (where I live)
This view reminds me of the Claire Valley in South Australia.
Oh yeah, this is Italy.

The perfect pool, the perfect view.  I think all I need is a Sangria.

Fixer Upper.

It is a gift and a curse to see potential in pretty much anything, but this one could be my next move.
I have been eyeing this little number for some time now and finally got up the nerve today to call the real estate agent to take a tour.  It seems like a Texas Camp House, but just look past the wood paneling and see what I have in mind.
Just behind that door is a 2 car garage that could be converted into a lovely family room.

Perfect layout, but a little too depressing/old world.

This one, to me is the perfect amount of old world and could someone please tell me where I can get that console table?

If Hubby gets his new job soon, it looks like we will be jumping all over this one.  Only thing is we have absolutely no idea exactly when the job will come, "soon" we were told, "2 years" we were told 2 and a half years ago.  We are waiting for the man to retire that currently holds the position, only he won't retire.  So if you would like to see this house transformation happen, then say a little prayer that it is a great time for this gentleman to retire so my ever patiently (incredibly frustrated) husband can step into the next stage of his career and we can step into the next stage of our lives with this home in the country. Thank you.  Heidi

Houses that ROCK!

High ceilings, exposed wood beams, enormous windows flooding the room with natural light and the bare stone walls.  Yep, it gets me every single time.  Enjoy, Heidi

Ballard Designs

I fell in love with Ballard Designs many moons ago.  They just keep getting better and better every year.  This living room is perfection in my book.  The moment I laid eyes on it, I immediately thought of the idea of keeping the wall over the mantle bare in order to project a television image onto it from the ceiling.  When I asked my audio/videophile husband about the idea I could instantly see the wheels turning and head noddling, that it was a profoundly good idea.  So into the dream house file you go, living room pic.
Enjoy, Heidi

McAlpine Tankersley Architecture

All time favorite designer at the moment, will be very hard to beat.  Has the old world charm and the timeless look.  Natural and neutral earth elements, simple and elegant also great mixture of feminine and masculine.  Win Win for me.  Dreaming and scheming over here, editing through my dream house file since my taste has evolved to a new level.  Enjoy, Heidi

California Cotswold Cottage

I was flipping through my Mary Engelbreit's Home Companion magazines (still in morning over the loss) the other night, when I came across one of my all time favorite cottage houses.  Remember Jenny Hembury and her California Cotswold?    I can never forget it.  She and her husband were in love with it and one day he came home and told her that it was for sale and they bought it on the spot.  She says that 20 years later, they love it even more.  Shoot, it's been 6 years since that was published and I love it even more.  This is the thing I keep mentioning," timelessness".  The roof is cedar shingles that had to be soaked in water in order to achieve the curves.  Be still my heart.  Wishing you all a fun and safe 4th of July weekend.

A home for my Old Soul.

Every now and then it shows, the fact that must have an old soul.  I did a post on it once, click here if you missed it.  This post is the latest concoction of ideas I have swirling around in my head.  This one is for that romantic, nature loving alchemist that lives deep inside of me.  And BTW, thanks for all of the sofa input, it did help.  Enjoy, Heidi
